ONDOAN is installing a new water mist system in Ismailia Tunnels under the Suez Canal in Egypt
05/09/2017
The Egyptian Government is building several tunnels under the Suez Canal as part of the Suez Canal Region Development Project. These tunnels will contribute to the expansion of the North Sinai and the development of the Suez Canal, helping to create a solid industrial zone and completing the road from Rafah to Nuweiba.
Among these are the so-called Ismailia Tunnels near the Al-Salam bridge, to the north of this city. These tunnels consist of twin tubes of the same diameter (each one contains a one-way road). The distance drilled was approximately 4,800 metres under the Suez Canal at a depth of 60 metres. ONDOAN has been hired to install an innovative water mist system to limit and control any possible fire risk at an early stage with a minimum consumption of water.
